Facebook activates Video Comments

By | June 12, 2016

Facebook has rolled out Video Comments to all its users. The feature allows video replies to posts by people, pages and groups. To check it out, just grab the latest update.

The addition of videos in comments was introduced at Facebook’s 50th hackathon, earlier this year. It has been finalized and polished after that, and is now available on the Web, iOS and Android. To use the new feature, just click on the camera icon to the side of the text entry field. You will be able to record and attach a video after that.

Videos capture moments, and the younger generation is particularly font of them. This makes Facebook more competitive to the likes of Snapchat and well, itself, as Instagram. The Cisco Visual Networking Index forecast methodology even predicts that video will constitute 82{c509fa0689117bbb203bb121d1f17d6cabc65c372518e5121e451cedb6b210c3} of all consumer Internet traffic by 2020, and Facebook has to be ready for that.

The announcement came in a blog post by Bob Baldwin on Thursday. The feature might not be highly requested, but it is expected to be one that should stick once one tries it.
