This post brings the USSD codes that are in use by Telecel. This list includes the codes that are used for balance inquiry, recharging as well as other lesser known services like Notify me when reachable, which comes in quite handy especially in these days of no ZESA and big screened phones. The table below gives a rundown of the codes and the services that can be accessed using them.
|*123*recharge pin#||Airtime Topup|
|*140*mobile#||Call me back|
|*141*mobile#||Notify me when reachable.|
|*142#||Missed Call Alert|
|*145#||USSD Codes help (Yes, you get a list of the USSD codes and their application)|
|*470#||Night Shift Bundles|
|*480#||Telecel Hie social bundles (Facebook, Whatsapp and the like)|
The USSD shortcode *145# comes in handy when one has forgotten these short codes. Dialing *145# presents a list of the codes, though the list is not complete, for example Telecash code is found missing (Or maybe an update is coming?)
A number of services accessed through USSD codes can also be accessed using text messages, sometimes even more efficiently.
Alternatively, to subscribe for normal the “Normal” Telecel data bundles, text the word BUNDLE to 33073 if you are getting the “service is experiencing overload, please try again later error” continuously as the service indeed seems to be experiencing some form of overload time and again.
Airtime transfer cannot be completed using the USSD codes, but by sending a text message with amount + receiving mobile number to 33350. That is the equivalent code for Telecel Airtime Transfer.
Customer care can be reached through 150, and Telecel support can also be reached through their social media handles, and they typically respond within a few hours. You can reach out to them on their Facebook and Twitter accounts.
